Plant Sale – 22nd May:
A successful plant sale means the more we can spend on speakers so can we ask for more plants, flower and vegetable, cuttings and divided plants. It is also a good opportunity to advertise our skills and talents to the local community and entice others to join.
This year we are again including our gardening related bric a brac table so if you have anything redundant, but in good working condition, could you bring it along on club night or on the day.
Also, this year we will be providing a tool sharpening service for garden tools, knives and scissors.
Secondly, we need volunteers on the day to help set up. Hopefully, weather permitting, we will be having the sale outside again but we will need help with putting the plants out in their price groups and selling during the afternoon.
Volunteers will be needed from 11.00 am on the 22nd. Please see Monica on the sales table at the back of the hall if you are able to help.
Anyone needing help sending plants to the sale could they please contact a member of the committee or if you wish you can deliver them to the drive of Christine and John Berry’s home at Berrybrook, Millbrook Way, Orleton.
Also, Alison Coggon and Anne Sinclair have “volunteered” to organise the refreshments on the day. Please see Alison tonight if you are able to help on the day and / or provide a cake.
41st ANNUAL SHOW – Saturday 20th August 2022:
This year we have reinstated all the normal Classes to the Show, including Preserves, Cookery and Home-Made Drinks
The Schedule is on our website. In the Schedule there are full instructions on how to place your exhibits but, if in doubt, have a word with your Show sub-committee – Gill Macefield and Monica Todd. (Please note the schedule has been revised as at 24th April)
We also need Stewards on the day, please let Monica know if you are able to help.
Visit to Painswick Rococo Gardens:
Following the talk by Dominic Hamilton, our visit to the Garden has been confirmed as the 13th September. Because the garden now does not open on a Monday or Tuesday, we will have sole access and the Café is opening especially for us for afternoon tea.
Please click here for the booking form.
We still need a volunteer for 31st May and a couple of more people for our celebrity speaker in July.
Last but not least:
Don’t forget our plants sales table and the sale of gloves, vermiculite and Charles Dowding cell trays at the back of the hall.
Our meeting on the 31st May is Timothy Walker on Euphorbias.
Visitors are very welcome to join us to hear this popular speaker – the fee is £4.00 for this month only.
We would encourage members to follow the latest government coronavirus guidance when attending club meetings (www.gov.uk/coronavirus)
