This month is our Celebrity Speaker – Toby Buckland of Gardeners World speaking on “Abundance and how to have it” – and is a ticket only event.
If you have not already bought ticket, there are a few left that can be bought on the door for £14.
The doors will open at 7.00 pm to allow you to buy your raffle tickets – David could do with a couple of helpers – and get your refreshments.
The refreshments this month are being provided by Marjan Bartlett-Freriks, Rosie Holmes-Henderson, Bobbie Stubbs and Nicola Creany.
AUGUST SHOW – 20TH AUGUST:
If you have looked at the Show Schedule on line, you will have seen that this year our August Show is back to normal with all the usual classes reinstated.
We will also be having refreshments provided by Alison Coggon and Anne Sinclair and we would be grateful of offers of assistance for them on the day.
I am still looking for a few Stewards so, if you are coming to the talk next week, please come and see me.
We will say more next month about the Show but we are all experiencing the same growing conditions so, as David our Vegetable Judge said in his talk at the AGM last year, please don’t pre-judge your entries, that is what we have the judges for!
As we have already said this is an exclusive visit as they now don’t open on Tuesdays in September. The café has confirmed that they will open for us between 3.00 pm and 4. 00 pm and the garden recommends that the visit should take about 2 hours.
However, as we will be driving ourselves, some may be stopping for a pub lunch, some may be driving straight there, we will need confirmation on how the gates will be operated.
Please try to arrive between 12.30 pm and 1 pm. We will ask that the gates remain open to 1.30 pm to allow for anyone delayed through their travel.
It may be that we have to issue a Painswick/ODGC entrance voucher if so, we will email this to you.
THINGS TO DO, PLACES TO GO:
Open Garden in aid of St Michael’s Hospice:
Saturday, 6th August – 1.00 pm – 5.00 pm, entry £3.00 for adults, children go free.
Visit the garden of The Bay Horse, Orleton, SY8 4HF (home of our member Marjan Bartlett Freriks). There will be tea, coffee, cakes and plants for sale. This is a fully organic garden comprising a walled garden with an ornamental and vegetable section, orchard and wildlife pond.
There are lots of seating areas to enjoy a cuppa and soak in the views.
Parking at The Bay Horse or next door at The Folly.
Pudleston Flower Power Festival:
Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th August – 10.00 am – 5.00 pm both days.
St Peter’s Church, Pudleston, HR6 0QY. Visit for the Flower Festival, refreshments, stalls and much more.
The theme of the festival is The Beatles so please go along, although it is “A long and Winding Road”, it is just ideal for “A Day tripper” with “A ticket to ride”
Their floral displays will make you want to “Twist and shout”!
