Plant sale – 19th May:
A message from the Chairman:
On Sunday the club held its now annual plant sale, this has grown over the last three years and there was a huge range of annuals, bedding plants, shrubs, perennial plants, vegetable and fruit plants together with planted tubs and gardening bric-a-brac.
This year we also had a tool sharpening service which saw brisk trade and what event would be complete without tea and cakes!!
The brisk trade showed both the quality and quantity of plants on offer.
As a result, this year we have raised over £1,200 for club funds. I would like to thank everyone who helped with growing plants, setting up the hall, selling plants and baking cakes and making the tea. Many of you did all of these.
This means the club can book celebrity speakers and organise trips without worrying about having to pay in advance.
With thanks to all of you
39th Annual Show:
The only comment we are making at the moment is that we all have the same growing conditions so don’t pre-judge your produce. We have RHS standard judges to do that on the day. Just bring along what you have – it may well prove to be a winning entry on the day.
We are always looking for volunteers for Stewards on the day, we need two people for each section, so please let Monica know if you are willing to help .
Diane Howell-Thomas will also be looking for volunteers to make cakes and help with teas on the day!
We will also be having a plant stall and this year we are adding surplus home grown produce to this, so keep on growing!!
