Newsletter – May 2020
We hope you are all keeping safe and well and have been enjoying your gardens with the unusually warm weather of last week.
Following the update from the Prime Minister we are still hoping to be able to recommence our normal Club nights in September but will obviously review the situation nearer the time.
However, here are a few updates for you:
We have been fortunate to be able to rebook this speaker for July 2021 but in the meantime you may like to listen to:
6 May – No Dig with Charles Dowding, plus more tips on lockdown gardening from The Organic Gardening Podcast in Podcasts.
Hintons Country and Garden:
Hintons are now open from 9.00am to 3.00pm Monday to Friday and 9.00am to 1.00pm Saturday. Orders can be placed on 01568 614377 for either local deliveries or to pay over the phone and then arrange to collect. As you cannot enter the shop, they also have a “counter” at the door where you can shop and pay by card.
However, they are moving things around in the shop so that all the gardening items are back in the shop and will hopefully be able to open the doors by next week.
Philpotts are preparing to open the shop from Wednesday, 13th although not first thing. They will continue to make deliveries for people who are self-isolating through phone calls (01568 615648) rather than emails. They are unsure of opening hours at the moment due to the uncertainty of how this is all going to work, and they will have to be open a few days first to see how they can manage things in a safe way.
Wellington Garden Centre:
Wellington Garden Centre are opening their doors as of Wednesday, 13th May. There will be the “normal” social spacing and they have reorganised the store so that there is a one-way system going in the old way (through the plants) and out the main entrance.
The café will remain closed and they would appreciate groups of no more than two people.
Lyonshall are opening Wednesday, 13th May 10.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Saturday, closed Sunday, staff permitting. Customer numbers will be limited, one-way system in operation, trollies and card machines being sanitised. In line with their Association’s recommendations, only card payments will be accepted.
And last but not least!!
