Welcome to:
Jenny and Jerry Horwood, Liz and Ian Mackay and Cynthia Prior, all from Orleton.

Thanks to:
Ghi and Brian Arundale for tonight’s refreshments and for all of you who help setting up and clearing up the Hall.

Also, thanks to Peter and Monica for organising our lunch at The Fountain Inn on the 17th November. An excellent meal was enjoyed by all.

Whilst we don’t need any volunteers for December, please see Chris Berry at the AGM if you are able to help in 2020.

During 2019 we have trialled having the meeting starting at 7.30 pm with the refreshments being served after the talk. This doesn’t seem to give time for members to look at the plant stall, for new members and visitors to be welcomed etc. so, as of January 2020, we are going back to refreshments first and the talk starting at 8.00 pm

Don’t Forget:
This Month the speaker is Roger Umpelby on “Plants need a balanced diet too!”

Seed Orders:
If you want to take advantage of the discounts being offered to the Club by Marshalls and T&M, then the orders must be placed through Monica.

As mentioned last month there are catalogues from Marshalls and Unwins, but if you want to order from T&M please look on their website and fill in the order form available from Monica.

To ensure your order will arrive in time for the AGM, please hand in your orders on Tuesday evening.

AGM 17th December:
For new members and those with short memories, our procedure is thus: the AGM. is held promptly at 7.30 pm, and normally lasts only about half an hour. The remainder of the evening is our Christmas get-together, one of socialising and enjoying a lovely meal to celebrate the season! It is a shared supper – we all bring food to share, something savoury and something sweet, plus whatever you would like to drink. Bring your own crockery, cutlery and glasses and remember to put your names on any serving plates, utensils, etc being put on the centre table. The Club supplies bread, butter and cheese and there are supplies available if you wish to make yourself a tea or coffee BUT don’t forget to wash up after yourself!

And, following the success of the previous years:-
Win yourself a bottle of Wine in our Christmas Table Decoration Competition!

In order to bring an extra bit of Christmas fun to our AGM and Club Supper Evening we will again be having a little competition for the best Christmas table centrepiece.

So, get your creative heads on, get out the glitter or ribbons perhaps, and put together any size, shape or form of table decoration to be judged by all members on the night”

This year we are bringing back, in a different format, voting for the best speaker of the year. We will be attaching a small questionnaire to our December newsletter and would be grateful if you would complete it and either email your response to the club email address or hand it in to Gill before the start of the AGM.

The Minutes of last year’s AGM are on the notice board this month and on our website

The 2020 Programme is ready and will be live on our website after the AGM.

Village Hall audio system:
As you are all aware we are continually having problems with the audio system during our talks. One thing that has been suggested is that ALL mobile phones be switched off during the talks. Please comply so that we can see if this is actually the problem!!

Orleton Pre-School:
The school has a garden area that is looking very tired and they are looking for some help in making it a more user friendly space. They would like some help with painting and bringing new plant life and wildlife into their garden.

If any member is able to give some help, please contact Tara on Preschool-Admin@orleton.hereford.sch.uk.

Due to the age range of the children (aged 2-4 in Pre-school (8:30-2:45) and aged 2-11 in our Fun Club (3:00-5:30)) volunteers would be accompanied by one of the school team, and wouldn’t need to be DBS checked.
