Many thanks to all those members who entered the Show this year. Once again, we had an increase in the number of entries, especially in Floral Art and Cordials which both had the highest number of entries since records began.

Next year will be our 40th Anniversary so start thinking about your entries now and let’s make it the best ever!! Floral Art classes will be in the October newsletter.

September 24th meeting:

On Tuesday we welcome TV gardener, Nick Bailey, who will give a talk on all year-round colour in the garden. This is a ticket only event. At the time of writing there are still some tickets available at Orleton Village Shop or from Gill Macefield (01568 620631). We cannot guarantee entry on the night if you haven’t got a ticket.

We will open the Hall at 2.00pm to set out 150 chairs, if you able to lend a hand, just turn up. The more help the better! The Hall will then re-open at 7.00pm for a 7.30 pm start. We have volunteers for car parking, checking tickets and refreshments, selling raffle tickets, etc. so many thanks to all of those, too many to mention individually.

The Committee would really appreciate your help to put the chairs away at the end of the evening.

Colesbourne Snowdrops – 13th February 2020:

We have confirmed to Colesbourne Park that we will be taking a coach and we will therefore open it to other local Gardening Clubs if we have spare space which is why we have asked ODGC members to book by the end of September. Please post your forms to Gill as soon as possible. All information is available on the web.

Club lunch – 17th November at the Fountain Inn, Tenbury Wells:

The menu and booking form have been sent out by email and are on our website. Please hand your forms in to Peter at the October meeting or by post to Monica by the 4th November.

Seed catalogues:

The Marshalls catalogues have arrived but as there will be no space to put them out at the September meeting, please contact Monica to collect a copy if you wish to place an early order.

Things to do, places to visit:

The Herefordshire and Mid-Wales group of the Hardy Plant Society are having a talk by Derry Watkins from Special Plants Nursery on the 12th October at 2.00 pm at Weobley Village Hall.

The subject is “Self-sowing plants – allowing nature to help design your garden”
