Moors Meadow Past and Present

We welcome Ros Bisstell from Moors Meadow Gardens

Moors Meadow (www.moorsmeadow.co.uk) is an intriguing 7-acre organic hillside garden situated on the hillside in Herefordshire facing north over the Kyre valley. Originally a small farm, over the last 50 years it has evolved into a tranquil haven for wildlife and plants. Meandering paths lead into different areas with grass garden, fernery, extensive shrubberies and herbaceous beds and kitchen garden.

With numerous rarely seen plants from around the world owner, Ros Bissell, admits that she is a rabid plantaholic and continues to build new features and sculptures as well as continually rejuvenate and plant throughout the garden. Ros was born and brought up at Moors Meadow and moved back home in 1999 to garden alongside her elderly mother for many years and now tends the garden alone. It has achieved awards such as ‘The Most Romantic Garden’ and ‘Botanical Garden of the year 2023 in Central England’. The garden opens all year by appointment as well as set NGS charity days. Ros has now published her book ‘Gardening By The Seat Of Your Pants’, a guided tour of Moors Meadow Gardens.

The talk ‘Moors Meadow Past and Present’ will give you a more in-depth insight into the creation and ongoing work in the garden, a closer look at some of the unusual plants and anecdotes of all things gardening.
