ORLETON  AND  DISTRICT  GARDENING  CLUB  ANNUAL  SHOW  2026

On 15th August ODGC held its 45th Annual Show at Orleton Village Hall.  Classes included vegetables, fruit, cut flowers, pot plants, outdoor containers, baking, preserves, honey and alcohol based cordials.

Entries were staged between 10am and 11.30am after which the club welcomed its judges: David Griffiths – vegetables and fruit, Lisa Beddis – cut flowers, pot plants and outdoor containers, Barbara Morgan – baking and preserves and Geoff Morris – honey and homemade drinks.  Judging concluded at 1pm for lunch.

2026 has possibly been the most challenging growing season in the club’s history but looking at the luxuriant produce one could be forgiven for wondering whether the exhibitors inhabited the same drought stricken county as the rest of us.  Sunlovers including aubergines, peppers, tomatoes and figs flourished and there was a very impressive range of other vegetables, cut flowers, preserves and cordials.

The hall opened at 1.30 pm for viewing and refreshments and the club was delighted to welcome so many visitors.  At 3.30pm trophies and certificates were presented and a raffle was drawn.

ODGC would like to thank Philpotts Nursery and Hinton’s Garden Centre for generously donating raffle prizes.  The club is most grateful to its Show Committee for all its hard work and meticulous attention to detail, the judges, exhibitors, volunteers, all those who provided delicious refreshments, visitors and everyone who contributed to make the Show a success.
