ORLETON AND DISTRICT GARDENING CLUB
March 2025 NEWSLETTER
Welcome To:
ODGC Newsletter March 2025
Welcome To:
- New members: Glenyse Busby from Kingsland, Heather and Paul Hannant from Docklow, Bill Healey from Leominster, Sally Laffam from Brimfield, Julia Leech-Howlett from Orleton and Sarah Walker from Luston.
- Thanks to: Alison Coggon, Carol Brooking and Jane Turvey for this month’s refreshments and those members who help set and tidy up the Hall on the evening.
Don’t Forget:
- Your Membership Subscription was due in January. Cost £15 including refreshments. Please see our Treasurer – Gail Scott – to collect your card or renew.
- Please remember the new ways of paying: BACS is preferable: Orleton and District Gardening Club: Lloyds Bank, 30-99-08, 2530268
- We also now have a card reader so payment can be made that way
- Although we would prefer payment was not made by cheque or cash, we will obviously still accept these, especially for the raffle, club sales and plant stall
- This month’s speaker is Ros Bissell on “Moors Meadow past and present”
- As we have already announced, the Club is now on Facebook, top right-hand corner on the website for the link, and this is updated for us by Marjan Bartlett-Freriks. Marjan has also let us know that she is happy for us to share her Instagram account – @thegreedygardener – so that members can connect in that way and enjoy seeing what others are up to.
- On the website, under “News and Views”, you can read all the write ups of previous speakers
Gardeners World Live – NEC:
Do members visit this Show at the NEC in Birmingham in June? Is there any interest in discount codes for tickets? We have been approached by the BBC with some offers and are wondering if there is any interest before taking the matter further.
Plant Sale:
Our annual plant sale is on the 18th May and we should be starting to think of what we can grow and donate for it. Tomatoes and vegetables always very popular.
As well as growing seeds, take cutting and split plants so that we have plenty to sell.
Visit to Field Farm – Thursday 10th July:
Following the email sent out last week, full details can be found on the website. Click here to view.
It is a “make your own way” visit as there is plenty of parking space at the farm.
Full travel details will be given nearer the time.
August Show – 16th August:
The Booklet layout of the Show Schedule has been modified and now prints. Click here.
However, those of you who are keen to practise your skills for Section E Cookery, the A4 version – click here – gives the recipes full scale on pages 11 to 16. Click here.
