August 17th

On the 17th August the club held its 39th Annual Show.  Despite difficult growing conditions this year, it was pleasing to again see an increase in the number of entries over recent years.  The overall result was a wonderful spectacle of locally grown vegetables and cut flowers as well as cordials, baking and preserves.  Both the Floral Art and Cordials sections were particularly well contested, with each having the highest number of entries since records began in 2007.  There was a good show of local support, as people came to enjoy the show and the afternoon teas.

This year all the horticultural trophies were won by a gardener who practises and is dedicated to organic gardening, proving to us all that winning fruit, vegetables and flowers can be grown without resorting to using chemical herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers.  Full show results are available on the club website.
