WELCOME TO:
Carol Brooking from Ashford Bowdler, Kate Davison and Joan Driscoll from Lucton and re-joiner Gerry Summers of Orleton.

THANKS:
To Andrea Crewe and Helen Woolley for providing the refreshments this month and those members who help set and tidy up the Hall on the evening.

THIS MONTH’S SPEAKER:
This month’s speaker is Liz Knight on the “Art of Foraging”

DON’T FORGET:
Your membership subscription was due in January. The cost for 2024 is £15 and, as it includes your refreshments, we are sure you will agree it is still good value. Please see our Treasurer – Gail Scott – to renew.

Please remember that we are unable to accept card payments and that cheques must be made payable to ODGC or Orleton and District Gardening Club as these are the only two forms of payee that the Bank will accept.

AGM – 30th JULY:
Should you wish to make any amendments to the Club Rules or General Information, these must be handed to the secretary at the April meeting or posted to arrive 14 days before the May meeting so that they can be published before the May meeting.  The current wording can be seen on our website.

VILLAGE HALL HEATING SYSTEM:
Thanks to those of you at the February meeting!  You may remember Monica handing around a petition to be submitted to the National Lottery Commission.  That was because the Village Hall Trustees had submitted an application for a grant toward the cost of replacing the boiler and oil tank which had been turned down because of lack of evidence of wide spread use of the hall.

All the clubs who regularly use the hall completed petitions and the application was resubmitted and we were advised last week that we have now been awarded over £5,500 towards our costs.

Please keep playing the Lottery!

WANTED – USED PLANT POTS:
We are always looking for donations of used plant pots, especially with the Plant Sale coming up. Anything from 5”, 1 litre, 2 litre and bigger accepted.

Please see Hilary or Monica.  Can be collected if necessary.

PLANT SALES:
Donations for our Plant table always welcome and don’t forget to get sowing and potting up for our Plant Sale on the 19th May.

The money raised at the plant sales keeps the Club finances healthy so that we can ensure that we can pay for our speakers.

We will be asking for volunteers for the plant sale next month.

43rd ANNUAL SHOW – SATURDAY 17TH AUGUST:
Thanks to Jane and her band of helpers, the Schedule has been finalised and is now (thanks to our webmaster) on our website.

Please read the Schedule with all the helpful notes, carefully, and start practising the recipes.

SHROPHIRE NGS:
The organisers of Shropshire NGS are always looking for people to help with the various tasks required to help them keep raising money for cancer and caring charities including Macmillan, Hospice UK, Parkinson’s and Marie Curie.

They are also looking for some more gardens to open in Shropshire and, if you are interested, in either helping or opening your garden, please contact Andy Chatting, Shropshire County Organiser, 07546 560615, andy.chatting@ngs.org.uk
